Happy Birthday Allycat!!!

I remember 16 years ago on this very evening at this very moment, I was sitting on my cousin's bed hugging my knees to my chest and so scared for my mom and my sister-to-be...I was staying at my aunt's and uncle's that night, and my sister was scheduled to be delivered by c-section...I was so on edge that night, and excited because I wanted to see her so badly...so, on the small twin bed, all three of us, M, K, and I(Pood) at ages 10, 8, and 6 were sitting together in silence not knowing what to do, what to say, we were just sitting there. My uncle, R came into my cousin's room from time to time and comforted me with a pat on my shoulder telling me that my mom and sis will be ok...(my aunt was at the hospital video taping her birth) Then around 7:30pm, my grandpa calls my uncle and tells him that I am now a big sister as of 7:15pm...I was so happy, I wish I was there to see it, but of course, c-sections are pretty traumatic for a 10 year old to see. I remember watching her birth the very next morning on the video tape, and I had no idea what to think...I just saw the doctors lift this precious tiny little life out of my mom. I knew then and there that the rest of my life, I have this great reponsability of paving the way in life for this little one. The best part? was on the 14th when I got to see her for the first time and finally meet her. I held her(with dad teaching me how) and the experience was so surreal, it leaves me breathless to this very day, I instantly felt so much love and protection for her. She grabbed my finger with her tiny little hand and I can feel her heart beat, beating the same blood that runs through my veins as well, her bald head smelled so good, and she recognized my voice and looked up at me. I guess all those months talking to my mom's pregnant belly paid off. Here it is, 2008, and she is now 16. I now know that she will only get more precious as time goes on, and I swore to her that when we are both very old widowed ladies with canes and walkers, we will live together in a small little cottage with so many beautiful flowers. Happy birthday Allycat! You are one of the best things that happened to me, I treasure you and love you forever! My sister, my friend, my family, my heart, my existance.

What a sweet tribute to your little sister, Minx. Just wait until you have your very own baby. As much as you love Alley, it's a different love for your own baby. Not more love, just a different kind.

Sweet, sweet post, L. :o)

Love and hugs,

Diane
