Preparing For Claire's Journey

Last night I made a sale from my etsy shop to a good friend in Texas, I had no idea until I read my comments this morning, and then I made the connection...I had made a few new bird ornies with vintage fabric and almost right away, Claire was sold! I had just posted a new bird friend in my shop, "Annabelle" come and check her out! So by the end of this week, Claire will have a new wonderful home in texas, she will be a southern bird! Thanks, K for doin' business with me! I know you'll love her!

Here is one of my newest items I just posted tonight...It's "Flora" the vintage fabric ornament...There are 4 others that are new as well...I was working on them all day and just finished about 30 minutes ago...They are also $5.50 each. They are so adorable! I know my mom will love them, she is my biggest fan of my shop, and of my creations! Look what I can do, Ma!!!

Cloudy Snowy Afternoon

It's finally snowing here in Kansas!!! I'm home alone with the kitties, working on a few more bird ornaments, occasionally watching the snow fall gently outside, and kenny g christmas music is playing in the backround. What a pristine afternoon, it can't get any better than this. I'm really excited for Christmas this year, maybe it's because it is my first married Christmas. My husband is real excited too, I can't wait til we both go xmas shopping together, baking my xmas sugar cookies, drinking egg nog (a little spiced up if you know what I mean)...pictured is a part of my office looking out into the grey world. Have a happy saturday everyone!
Here's Sabrina, watching the snow outside falling...it's been 9 months since she's seen snow, and the first snow still amazes her every time...

What I Am Thankful For...

I said I wouldn't post anything on Thanksgiving day, but I changed my mind and I wanted to write a little tribute to what I am thankful for...

I am thankful for God and his love for me, I am thankful for marrying the love of my life, (knitty kitty) and having him as my sweet, protective, kind, generous, and loving husband, I am thankful for my 2 precious kitties, "ci-ci" and "brie-brie", for their companionship and for being highly faithful pets, I am thankful for my loving family and friends spread out all over the world, I am thankful for having an occupation that I enjoy, and I am thankful for my cute little apartment where I feel comfortable and safe in. All in all, I am thankful for life, love, and good health. Happy Thanksgiving to all I love, whether online, or offline, I am thankful! Thankyou Jesus!!!!

Trotting Along...

Isn't he cute??? He was trotting along the top of the roof of my next door neighbor's house. I think that species of bird would be a starling...he was black with shiny purple and green...that was taken last spring.

Turkey Day Eve

I won't be posting anything on my blog tomorrow due to it being thanksgiving and all, I have 2 dinners to go to...what a lazy day today is!!! my hubby has the day off, I will have to work later on tonight, I have nothing new to post onto my etsy site, no emails to respond to, and my hubby and 2 cats are all taking naps!!! I wish I could take a nap today, but I don't really feel all that tired, I was sure tired yesterday! I slept from 1:00pm-5:00pm (CST) and last night I fell asleep again at 9pm and didn't wake up until 7am this morning! I think I'm rested up to last me 2 days! Happy Thanksgiving to all, count your blessings, and eat lots of turkey! Hey, does anybody know what kind of north american bird friend that's pictured above? I have no idea...

It's George #2!

This one's my most fave from all of the birdie ornaments I have made...It's George II, but unfortunately, I won't sell him on my etsy site, so he's living with me and my hubby, and he will be hanging on my xmas tree...I just love it so much, and I'm too proud of my work on this little fella to let it fly from my hands....I guess it's a little present for myself...I do make myself an ornament every year, so this could be my 2008 hand made for me! Do you all like? I sure love him, I like the name (mom).

New Bird Friend...

I would like to introduce "George" the orange velvet bird. It was an idea of my mom's but I brought it to life...She even thought of the name too...George is a little small, but I think I will make a couple more bigger and post them for sale up in my etsy shop...But isn't he just so cute??? I have a day off today, I'm gonna be busy in my studio, makin' more birds, and definately clean house today...yesterday, saw my family, ma, pa, and sis acat, it was good to see them, even for just for half the day. Saw my grandparents too...

A Little Preview...

Here is a completed bird friend, it will be going on my etsy shop in a few days, when all of the colors are completed! There are going to be 9 different colors to choose from, and I think $5.50 each is a pretty good bargain! This one (pictured) is the orange bird, the oldest of all the felt bird ornaments...the other 8, (red, pink, brown, black, yellow, green, blue, and white) will all be born in the next few days! weeeee!!!! I can't wait! It takes quite a while to even make just one! so I might spread it out, or I will be working till sun up tomorrow! I didn't assemble the hanging ribbon because when I take a picture of all of them together, all of those ribbons will be a mess and will be hard to distunguish the birds in the picture, since there is so much color already! Tweet, tweet! They are on their way!

Working On Something New!

I started on a new project that I will be selling on etsy, I'll will give you a hint...It involves birds, and involves ornaments...can't guess??? well stay tuned, and in about a day or so, it will be up on my etsy shop! They are real cute, I promise you!

What A Chilly Morning

Right now, 14 degrees (f)...in my location, we had our first frost covering the land like sugar on a sweet treat! I had to turn on the heat for the first time this season, since we've had 60's-80's temps. I will go into work this afternoon and help with a huge shipment...this morning, I walked into my bedroom, and saw the most precious sight, my 2 cats snuggling with each other! They are actually sisters from the same litter, and when I got them over 2 years ago, I thought, I should just get the both of them (they were the only 2 left)...I could not just take one home, and leave the other one there all alone, so I scooped them both up in my hands and took them both with me! They were only 6 weeks old at the time, and they flourished into polite, playful, and beautiful young lady cats...

Laid Back Thursday...

Well, my hubby has the day off, so do I, and we are just going to relax indoors and out of the harsh prairie winds blowing outside. We will do a little cleaning of course, but I will be fiddling around on the computer, play with my kitties, take a long nap....earlier this morning, I broke out my pom-pom bird making kit that I bought for myself a week ago, and created 4 new little bird friends to keep me company in my office. I might hang them from the ceiling, so the cats won't get to them. But aren't they just so adorable??? I even named them...(from left to right) "Brian" the bluebird, "Girtrude" the goldfinch, "Craig" the cardinal, and "Olga" the oriole. Cute names? I think so...If only they could sing...

What A Day Yesterday Was

Yesterday was my first day on the job, and I was put right to work on the display tables! I never knew it took so much precision to get those tables looking beautiful! I watched a whole lot of training videos, and already started interacting with customers, the other newbies were too shy, but I stepped right in! I have been doing customer service for so long, it's second nature to me! I just fit right in, and I know that I will have a great time every time I go to work. Today I have the day off, so I will be giving my attention to my etsy shop, vegging out with my kitties, and definately a nice nap this afternoon is at play...until my hubby comes home from work at 5pm, the day belongs to me! Oh before I forget, I updated my etsy shop yesterday with 9 brand new items! I'm quite proud of them, but I'm thinking of branching off into new rhelms of art, stay tuned!

Holy Day Indoors

I just got back from my parents' place, had fun seeing everyone, and got to see my sister, bearing birthday gifts for her...she loved everything I bought her! I intended to leave that evening, but it got dark, so I decided to stay the night! Unfortunately, I developed a migraine headache over there last night, so my mom made me tea, just like when I was little! However, when I arrived back home, for some reason, I just felt so exhausted, so I slunk into bed, and my hubby came into bed and snuggled with me until I fell sound asleep. My cats missed me, so they snuggled with me too.

Date Night Fun, Today, Fun Too

Last night was a really spectacular date night! We went out to dinner, and decided to see the movie on Sunday. However, my hubby is not feeling too good this morning from what he ate last night. Poor thing. Well, In about a couple of hours, I will be heading to my folk's to see them and my sis...I am delivering her birthday present, I know she is ultra excited for that! I know I also wanted to see my grandparents too...What a great day it will be!

Tonight...Is Date Night!

I just got back from grocery shopping, which I dread doing every two weeks, it's such a hastle! But tonight, is date night with my hubby, and I'm so excited! I haven't had a date night with him in forever! I have no idea what to wear, how to style my hair, and which pair of pumps to wear...look at me, I'm married and I still get so giddy and anxious when we go out on the town...We are going to see the new James Bond movie, and go out to eat at our favorite restaurant (the one where we had our very first date over 6 years ago!) It's a cute quaint italian bistro that has the best pasta I've ever eaten! WEEEEEEE!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!

Happy Birthday Allycat!!!

I remember 16 years ago on this very evening at this very moment, I was sitting on my cousin's bed hugging my knees to my chest and so scared for my mom and my sister-to-be...I was staying at my aunt's and uncle's that night, and my sister was scheduled to be delivered by c-section...I was so on edge that night, and excited because I wanted to see her so badly...so, on the small twin bed, all three of us, M, K, and I(Pood) at ages 10, 8, and 6 were sitting together in silence not knowing what to do, what to say, we were just sitting there. My uncle, R came into my cousin's room from time to time and comforted me with a pat on my shoulder telling me that my mom and sis will be ok...(my aunt was at the hospital video taping her birth) Then around 7:30pm, my grandpa calls my uncle and tells him that I am now a big sister as of 7:15pm...I was so happy, I wish I was there to see it, but of course, c-sections are pretty traumatic for a 10 year old to see. I remember watching her birth the very next morning on the video tape, and I had no idea what to think...I just saw the doctors lift this precious tiny little life out of my mom. I knew then and there that the rest of my life, I have this great reponsability of paving the way in life for this little one. The best part? was on the 14th when I got to see her for the first time and finally meet her. I held her(with dad teaching me how) and the experience was so surreal, it leaves me breathless to this very day, I instantly felt so much love and protection for her. She grabbed my finger with her tiny little hand and I can feel her heart beat, beating the same blood that runs through my veins as well, her bald head smelled so good, and she recognized my voice and looked up at me. I guess all those months talking to my mom's pregnant belly paid off. Here it is, 2008, and she is now 16. I now know that she will only get more precious as time goes on, and I swore to her that when we are both very old widowed ladies with canes and walkers, we will live together in a small little cottage with so many beautiful flowers. Happy birthday Allycat! You are one of the best things that happened to me, I treasure you and love you forever! My sister, my friend, my family, my heart, my existance.

It's That Time Of Year

Well having misplaced the legs that go to my artificial tree, I was up early this morning, and I improvised with a large tall glass vase, and and upside down black table... it actually looks real cool!

The Heat Is On!

Last night at about 6:00 pm, I got a phone call from a place that wants to have an interview with me and possibly wants to hire me!!! It's a cute little gift/flower shop in Aggieville of Manhattan! (It's a College Kid hot spot) I don't want to jinx it up too much, but I am way excited!!! My interview is next monday, and I hope these people will hire me!!! My hubby was thrilled to hear the news, now if the sun would shine, it would be that much better! Well, now I am going to fix me some yummy cinnamon oatmeal, and it's off to work on my lovely art pieces...

It's A Brie-Brie In A Box!

Well actually, she's sitting in the lid of a box! I was fiddling around on the computer, and I happen to look over, and I see my cat, Sabrina sitting in that box lid! HOW CUTE IS SHE???

Xmas Spirit

Here is my snowman ornament, also on sale on my etsy site, real cute on any tree!

Back To Work

After resting all day yesterday, I am now back in my studio working on a few new pieces! I'm making 9 more box art of various sizes (only one so far is complete, which is pictured), 3 8x10 acrylic paintings, snowmen xmas ornaments, and maybe some gift tags, I wanted to put a few cheaper items onto my etsy site, and of course some seasonal items since xmas is coming near...there are so many items brewing in my brain, what will I ever do??? I'm going to be extremely productive today, break out the xmas decorations, clean house, make more art, call my family to check up on them...so on and so forth. I'm almost out of my mushroom bird supply, so probaby by the end of the week, I will stock up on dozens of them. This weekend, I will be at my parents' place to visit my sister cause her 16th birthday is this thursday! Tempest Fugit! Time Flies!

My Grey "Rollie Pollie"

Here's my other furry friend...my "Ci-Ci" hanging out with me in my office on a cold cloudy afternoon. I think she takes good pictures.

Silent Saturday

Everything is so still and quiet now. The harsh winds have finally died down outside, my husband's asleep, not making a sound, my 2 cats are here, but brie-brie is asleep on top of my printer, and ci-ci is fast asleep by my feet. It's like I woke up, and the whole world is sleeping. No hits on my etsy site, I'm just so excited to make that first sale, but I know that it may take time...I've always been unpatient on everything, I need to learn that now more than ever. It's awesome that 9 etsy users so far hearted my shop as one of their favorite shops! Ok, I'm going to wake up my hubby and ask him to make me pancakes...

For You Nosy Ladies

Ok, OK!!!!! Here is what Minx's Den looks like and all of my creations come to life...
(please mind the mess, I get a little psychotic while I work)

Finally Took A Break...

Armed with a very bad cold, I basically took my first break in a whole 24 hour period!!! I have been up all night working and posting items, making a couple of new things. So how did I spend my "break"? well, I bundled up with one of my many scarves, and knitting stocking cap and coat, braved the high winds, got in my car and treated myself to a huge ass pecan roll from this little place called "The Bakery" on KSU campus. I haven't had one of these scrumptious treats since I lived in the dorms 4 1/2 years ago, and it just hit the spot and revived me to continue on just a little bit more today. So, here I go again!!! As my mom, Kansasrose says, "take the recession by the horns!" oh yeah, like the bird xmas ornament my hubby bought me? He found it while he got my supplies, and suprized me with it since I have been so sick. What can't my husband do? I love him so much!!!

Here I am, at 2:00 in the morning trying to get some work done for my new etsy shop. Boy is it hard work! I never thought it would be so time consuming! Kudos to all of you people with an etsy or ebay site, it indeed takes some very hard work, and very long hours. I'm still not even halfway done posting my items yet! My hubby is sleeping sound, in fact, I don't even hear him snoaring. This darn cold has progressed to runny nose, sneezing, pressure headaches, body aches, slight fever, coughing, and a slight lack of motor functions (since I can't type as well at night). The world's not all that bad, I have a little friend here with me on my desk, i just took a pic of her. My cat "Brie-Brie", short for Sabrina is keeping me good company right now, I don't know where my other cat is (Sabrina's sister, "Ci-Ci"), she's most likely sleeping next to my hubby. But every time, day or night when I'm working in my office, Brie-Brie is right there watching me, purring loudy, and occasionally rubbing her face on my arm when she wants attention. I thank God for little moments like that, having a soft creature show affection to someone 100 times their size with total 100% trust in their owner. I can only drop what I'm doing and pet her, scratch her chin, and smell her back. CATS RULE!!!!

Leaves In The Air

The wind is so strong today! After meeting up with my hubby's grandmother for lunch, it felt like the wind just took the breath right out of me, so I seeked the warm cozy shelter of my apartment. My hubby has the day off today, and I'm just sitting here typing away, hearing the sounds of the strong 40 mph winds outside, and my hubby snoaring in our bedroom (he's taking a catnap). It looks like I have developed a real bad cold, couldn't sleep last night, my throat hurt and I was and still feel very achy. My hubby went to the store this morning and brought home a few more art supplies for me to work on my inventory, He got me the cutest bird stickers! They are from the brand of the wonderful Martha Stewart! He is such a sweet man to be married to...I just love those little favors he does for me...

Busy As A Bee

Despite the nasty weather outside my window, I created 2 brand new pieces that will eventually go into my etsy shop! I am waiting for my hubby to get off work later on, and he is going to help me upload my images into my shop, since I'm having trouble myself...But anyway, here are 2 cute pieces, hope you enjoy, I know I sure enjoyed making them...

Gloomy Wednesday

It's so cloudy out today! First time in a long time, I don't see the sunlight. There is a big chance for severe weather in my area, which is highly unusual for this time of year. There is an eerie stormy feel in the air, and I sure don't like it.
On another note, now that I started this blog, I sure wish I posted something back on Halloween, because my hubby and I went as a sorority girl, and a frat boy, and my husband had on the most awesome shirt! I spiked up his hair, and it looked so cool!
Any way, this is probably the last year I ever would dress up for Halloween, s
ince I'm in my mid-20's, time to grow up I guess, maybe next year I will dress up my cat instead! Nah, they would hate me for a few days if I did that...I also wanted so post another art piece, something I'm really proud of, and in a few days, it will be up on my esty shop, ready to go home with whoever connects to it...It's one of three boxed art from my Nursery Rhymes Series...Hope you enjoy!

Almost Ready!!!

Today, I did a lot of catching up on my art projects! It's been nearly a year's absence from my creativity, but what can I say? When ideas flow, there's no stopping them! Here's an example of my newest pieces I finished just today!
